Straight Talk from Scowcroft

Former National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft has some harsh words for the war in Iraq and the Neo-Cons who put us there. He's one of W's dad's best friends and yet he is very open about his disappointment in the crummy staff work that led to the decision to invade. Scowcroft claims we have no choice but to stay and finish the job, but while we do that, we are cultivating even MORE terrorism in the world.

He told it all to the New Yorker. Here's a summary from UPI.

Scowcroft also said that before we got rid of Saddam, we had 50 years of peace in the Middle East. I'm not quite sure what his definition of "peace" is, but I don't think it's the standard one. I agree with his points, but he's crazy if he thinks it was peaceful there in the late 20th century.
